Rockingstone Heights School first opened its doors in 1974, as an elementary school.  It was in the fall of 2002 that Rockingstone Heights School became a P to 9 school due to the closure of BC Silver.

Rockingstone Heights is named after the large glacial erratic.  This large "rocking stone" can be found just behind the school near the shores of Kidston Lake.  The rock was deposited there after the last ice age and has been estimated to weigh approximately 20 tonnes.  This rock has been a famous tourist attraction for many years and has caught the attention of many visitors, including King George V.

Rockingstone Heights School is located at the top of Greystone in Spryfield.  It is surrounded by sports fields, walking trails and has a large lake with a public beach in its back yard.  The view of Halifax from the school is amazing, scoping the majority of HRM.

Rockingstone has been designated as an inner-city school.  This designation entitles our school to additional programs including a 4-Plus Program and lower student-to-teacher ratios.
